Commercial property delinquencies getting hotter.

Delinquency Rates for Commercial Properties
During the fourth quarter of 2023, delinquency rates for commercial property-backed mortgages increased. According to Jamie Woodwell, MBA’s Head of Commercial Real Estate Research, “Ongoing challenges in commercial real estate markets pushed the delinquency rates on some loans higher in the final three months of 2023."

The survey also revealed an increase in the balance of commercial mortgages that are not current in December 2023 compared to September 2023. The findings suggest that the commercial and multifamily mortgage market is navigating diverse challenges, with different properties and loans facing varying circumstances in the evolving market landscape.
